How to convert .wav to .cda or ??? - CNET Audio & video software Forums

I did what you suggested on this Laptop but it still didn't work. It would burn okay and work okay on a CD-RW but not a CD-R.
So I tried the same on my other Laptop (which is identical) and everything works okay. This laptop had been formatted before.
So there is something wrong with the hardware on the un-formatted laptop which I will try to fix.

How old is that Optical CD/DVD DRIVE?

If it's over 2 years old my quick possible fix is to clean the lens and burn at 1 or 2X speed until I can put in a new drive.

cr/dvd drive is faulty.

Bob...
After trying different things, I have come to the conclusion that this drive has come to the end of it's life.
Now I have to find a compatable drive to install in this laptop.
Could you possibly point me in the correct direction to find a replacement.
The old drive is a Matshita dvd-ram UJ841S...Toshiba Part # V000061750
I have tried different sites but they are all used or in a different country.

This is the older IDE type drive. Most folk NEVER replace it since the laptop is usually at the end of its life span. They usually pick up some USB DVDRW for 50 or less bucks at Walmart.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106336 is 35 dollars, has decent user reviews and has Lightscribe as well.

I see a few IDE laptop drives at http://www.geeks.com/products_sc.asp?cat=351 and to head off a question, these are standard things. The only complaint I get is that the bezel doesn't match. Sometimes folk need to replace their burning software but CDBURNERXP is fine with almost all models.
