Burn Video VTS and . IFO Question

I am new to this and have an old movie made in the 30's that for some reason will not play anymore in my DVD player. I tried to copy the DVD but with no success. But I managed to use a program that transferred the contents to a folder on my hard drive.
The folder has several VTS.IFO files and one VTS Stream Info Text File. I can play the movie by clicking on one of the VTS files. But I want to have it on a DVD again.
I usually use Windows Live Movie Maker to convert to WMV format and it burns great, but these files will not be accepted by WLMM.
Any suggestions? The movie is very old and not available anymore to purchase. I should have copied it when it was still working properly.
