How to record internally?

<font size="4" face="Calibri"><font size="4" face="Calibri">Hi! -
I'd like to be able to record various sounds from my computer--but not by recording the sound (waves) emanating from the speakers, but actually internally. This way the recording would not be affected by the sound being distorted by the room, etc. (i.e., reverberations, etc.). I need to record the sounds directly from the sound card, I suppose, to a file--not a microphone-based recording--no "actual" sound (i.e., sound waves "in the air") involved, please. Just pure transmission from internal computer source to sound file.

If you just want to record to a file

then since you already have these sounds on the computer the are already in files.

Why not copy those?

If you want to edit, or add to already existing sound files then I would try something like Audacity.

Be sure to work off 'copies' of existing files, otherwise you could overwrite important sound files.
