I am surprised you did not include VirtualDub in your list. I owned and used several of the programs you did list till I tried VirtualDub. After learning how to use this free, open source program I have not used anything else. It does require learning how to use it, but it is worth the effort.
VirtualDub can be magical.

While I agree it can put off those that need CLICK HERE software it perform some feats that you won't find in some apps.
A few nods to other titles I found useful -> DVD FLICK, ImgBurn and Handbrake.

That's because it's free, huh?
If you've read any of my video posts, you'll know that I'm sworn to Pinnacle, & have been for years. It's not easy to use, till you figure out how, but the simple things are. Their tech support is superb & they have tutorials on nearly everything. I still have tech support for my older versions, which is a reason why I recently upgraded to their latest retail box.
I use their software professionally & love, it. For the price it's great too, & full upgrades are reasonable. Just my little spiel about video software.
Pinnacle Studio has been my choice for years

I have been taking old Hi-8 home videos (my daughter's Gymnastics and Volleyball meets) and converting them to DVD with Titles, Chapters, and direct links to just her alone at gym meets. It is time consuming on my 5 year old Pentium 4, but gets the job done with ease. The only problem I have ongoing is my video camera's weak audio, but the video itself is far more important than distant audio.
