What is the BEST software for rpping & playback?

Scenerio: I have a friend who:

1. Has an awesome, very high quality sound system and has an amazingly large cd collection. I have been trying (tirelessly) to convince him that it is time to go digital. I have digitized my own collection by just using WMP, but I'm afraid that WMP won't do the job when it comes to ripping at a high bit rate & great playback.

2. He doesn't have much experience & knowledge with computers, so I will be guiding him through the process. I'm looking for something that is user friendly. I just picked out a MP3 player for him to start off with & I'm hoping to eventually get him rip all of his cd's onto his laptop so he can hook it up to his sound system.

I've read tirelessly through reviews about programs such as Nero, which hasn't received too many good reviews by end users. I'm not really interested about video ripping or playback at this point, just focusing on cd ripping & playback.

Any response will be greatly appreciated, ty.

After setup, your report should look like this for correct rip.

Read mode : Secure
Utilize accurate stream : Yes
Defeat audio cache : Yes
Make use of C2 pointers : No

Read offset correction :(# for your drive)
Overread into Lead-In and Lead-Out : No
Fill up missing offset samples with silence : Yes
Delete leading and trailing silent blocks : No
Null samples used in CRC calculations : Yes
Used interface : Installed external ASPI interface

Used output format : Internal WAV Routines
Sample format : 44.100 Hz; 16 Bit; Stereo

Simple CD burner software

Not good at computers and software. Need a simple CD burner software where I select a number of tracks from various CD's and burn all tracks to a blank CD. What would you suggest? Terry

There is no such software today.

iTunes comes close but it fails on the spec. That is I can make a playlist and an AudioCD but that may be too much for some as creating a playlist seems to a mystery to many.
