WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER AND MEDIA CENTER WON'T PLAY ANY VIDEO

I have a laptop Acer Aspire 4720Z with genuine Windows Vista Home Premium operating system. Initially all went well, however, after a few months, Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center won't play any video anymore. Did I delete one or more of their components that caused the trouble? Or my other video player downloads may have caused it? Is there any hope to make them fully functional again? Please help me. Thank you.

Clues, clues. What player and what file types is it set to play?

Go to WMP and set the file types you want it to play.

PROBLEM ON WMP AND WMC

Among others, all DVD movies that I bought before and played in this same unit using WMP and WMC are now cannot be played anymore. Only audio is played using WMP. WMC do not play at all.
