Sound Issue

I had problems with my computer so I wiped the OS and all my files for Windows XP. I realize I probably just need to get my sound drivers, but I don't know what my sound card is.

"Sound card - 7.1 channel surround" is what I believe I'm using. I can't tell from devices because no drivers have been installed yet.

I'm running on a Dell XPS 420 so it must be one of the stock sound cards offered by them. I'll download them all if I have to, if I only knew their names and driver download locations.

Let me know what other info I should supply.

I think my sound is onboard in the motherboard after doing google searches. I have an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU. Q6600 @ 2.40GHz.

I hope this helps more.

At http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/xps420/en/OM/HTML/trouble.htm#wp1097426 we skip to the section that we want to use but drivers at noted later with this passage -> "NOTE: The Dell Drivers and Utilities media contains drivers that were installed during the assembly of the computer. Use the Dell Drivers and Utilities media to load any required drivers. Depending on the region from which you ordered your computer, or whether you requested the media, the Dell Drivers and Utilities media and Operating System media may not ship with your computer."
