Audio & video software forum: MP3 & DVD Audio discs skip first few seconds of file

The bitrate of any file has no bearing on the situation. The file could be compressed to a constant 320 or variable 192 to 320 and the result is the same. DTS audio files are much larger in size and are 6 channel capable. This is not something new, even 8 years ago when I purchased my first DVD player that was MP3 capable, I started burning mp3 music files and this anomaly presented itself even then. It has me baffled.

What do you suggest I try Bob?....Using a different brand of blank media (CD or DVD) hasn't solved the problem for me (Verbatim,Fuji,Sony, Memorex, Maxell), I've tried inserting a 2 sec. leader onto the front end of files with no positive result. It has to be a common problem that only a standalone DVD player exhibits while trying to *read* the file because my computers have no trouble playing these discs at all.

There could be many different reasons for that so there will be many troubleshooting senerios.
step 1 ,eleiminate the dvd player, eg, try a mp3 cd burnt on a different computer, like xp pc if your running vista for sure, I use Vista i love it but its newer so greater chance of compatability issues for now.
next, if its the pc
2. try differnt burning software, down to the os as an issue, I had a pc i was repairing and a format reinstall fixed it, problem can be the os or an update MS put on your computer. you know the rest its simple if its not the the os or the hardware chances are you are running vista, I have had these problems too, best solution I found is to use Roxio 10 for vista , and convert your mp3's to mp4's with I-tunes, it adds anti skipping technology to the files. (just drag the mp3 files to i-tunes then highlight all the files and right click and choose convert to ACC you will have to remove the old mp3's manually as your HDD used space will double for these files.
