mp3 songs skip one second at beginning of track

Since I moved all my music to my Windows Home Server, about one half of my songs skip the 2nd second (not the first second, you hear a one second intro, then it skips to the 3rd second). I can't find anything in common with the ones that skip. Most of my music came directly from my own cds years ago (and were all perfect). But now, from each album, some songs will all be perfect, some will have some songs skip and some will have most songs skip.
I can play them from Media Player, X-Box, or Nero. And I can play them from different computers and it's the same results each time.
It's extremely annoying, as you can imagine.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a product defect.

I'd ask for a refund and then tell them to call you when they get the bugs out.

Possible product defect???

I might consider that, but I can't see how the Home Server OS could be affecting it... Ultimately, it's just storing the data.

And when you look at the list of what it blocks you have to ask when did a NAS become responsible for such file inspection. A fine example of where a product feature (?) wipes out its sales potential.

Back to your product. It's too possible it is doing something similar and the best response is the return with the feedback "Call me when it's fixed."

Worthless NAS

Interesting bit about the NAS... Makes it kinda worthless.
I can see where the Windows Home Server could make it easy or difficult depending on the way it's put together...
Although I still am wondering if it has damaged half my music collection and ultimately, if there is any way to repair the songs.

I'd copy the file locally and play it.

If it fails then I'd see if VLC PLAYER plays it ok.

-> I'm going to share a link to an ongoing discussion where we are discussing a problem about CODECs. That's an area Microsoft has not addressed well. That is, they don't have a "fix it" button and definitely will not find a codec if it's not their own.
