Blackberry Bold Internet WI-Fi and 3G

I have a Blackberry Bold 9700, and am having intermittent but regular issues.
I am able to access the internet via 3G fine some of the time when not in a WI-Fi zone, however several times the browser will simply crash, and come up with the message: "Unable to connect to the internet - if problems persist please contact your service provider". I will start out with a GPRS signal but then switch to gprs.
Without getting bogged down in the quagmire that is the Orange helpdesk, does anybody have a quick technical fix I can try? And yes, I have tried turning it on and off again. And taking the battery out.
