Can a Vodafone BlackBerry Storm 2 be activated on Verizon?

I have a BlackBerry Storm 2 with a Vodafone stamp on it that I am trying to use in the US. When I try to activate it the verizon website says the Device ID is invalid. Is there some secret to this? Or will it just not work?
