My traveling friend opted not to do that but went to a local "Target" store and picked up a payasyougo phone for 10 bucks and 25 bucks for 30 day service. Both ATT and other systems cover your cities very well so ATT, Tmobile, Sprint, Verizon, Virgin, TracPhone all are contenders. I'd pick them on price alone.

Hi thank you for this, but the thing is i need Blackberry Data services and i doubt a pay as you go phone from Target would have BB data services?

There is a payasyougo blackbery at target but not just a sim card. It's the entire phone.

No you could opt to buy such at the airport but the costs are what they are.

Heh Bob,

thank you...sorry i didn't realise they would have it like that! I presume the phone will be locked to that particular network...also the problem is with blackberry messenger....i would have to add all of my contacts again as the new phone would have a new PIN! Not ideal

Is there no pay as you go service i could use my existing phone on? As in buy a SIM pack, and then top up for a data package along with voice?

This is why my friends just go to Target and get a payasyougophone.

Hi, I will be trsavelling to US next week and like you looking for what you were looking for, a sim card that i can put into my existing Blackberry so I can receive my blackberry messenger message. How was your experience in USS since you went there in March? Any suggestion?

It appears you have to get an unlock code from your current carrier.

Hey Akif,

You can unlock your Blackberry Bold 9700 online it takes a few minutes to get the code and unlock instructions, try
http://www.unlockmybberry.com/
Once unlocked your phone will work on the pre-paid at&t or T-mobile networks in the USA. You will need to have a BlackBerry data plan if you want the BBM, email and MMS to work.
