Problem with Adobe Flash USING, after installation

I use Mozilla Firefox, have Windows XP (and not greatly computer savvy). I installed Adobe Flash Player, got confirmation it's installed, but still can't get sound (want to stream a radio station, for starters).
Adobe has so many GENERAL answers, but not to this (as I could find).
Thanks!! I uninstalled, turned computer off, re-installed and get same results - no sound!

Installing XP alone can stress today's owners. I mean it. Read http://forums.cnet.com/7726-7587_102-2699006.html where there are no less that 10 drivers and apps to install after XP and if you get one step wrong, no sound.

And then we have that ongoing Flash Hardware Acceleration issue. And finally some folk are dropping support for XP or IE 6.

Thanks, Bob, for replying.
Windows XP was on my computer when I purchased it (a new Dell, about six years ago), so I've no problem with its many drivers. I have Internet Explorer 8.
I'm sorry, Bob, but I don't understand about the "ongoing Flash Hardware Acceleration issue" - would it be helpful to me?
By the way, I can now receive (the streaming), but only on IE; I re-set the settings to Default, as instructed. However, I'm still unable to receive on Firefox, which is what I have open almost all the time. Any suggestions?
Maybe if I re-set the settings to Default on Firefox...? BUT, problem there is, I don't know how! Could you help in that respect?

Even I don't understand why they went ahead with that in spite of many folk having to learn about it and turning it off.

As to Firefox, sorry but it could be the same thing. Try changing that first.

And a parting comment. I have run across 3 people that will not change that setting. I have no idea why but they are trying to fix it another way and 2 of them are very upset I won't help.
