Droid and multitouch

Once again I am hearing the mis-information that the Droid does not currently support multitouch - this time on BOL yesterday. This is wrong. The OS DOES allow multi-touch, its just the default apps that do not use it. Download the Dolphin web browser and pinch-and-zoom your heart out. Any app can do pinch-and-zoom if it is built to do so.

I don't know what's so great about pinch-and-zoom anyway. It takes two hands to do it, one to hold the phone and one to pinch-and-zoom. With the double-tap zoom of the default droid browser, I can zoom with my thumb with the same hand that is holding the phone.

They've covered multitouch previous episodes

But on this occasion they must have been discussing the built in web browser. Although a list of alternative web browsers is very useful information.

And punch-zoom is important when the double tap doesn't work well or when you need to zoom out.

We may have inadvertently left it out of that particular discussion, but yes... I know the Droid has multitouch. I was really intending to refer to the built in web browser's lack of it. I had already tried the Dolphin browser which does offer multitouch for browsing and quite frankly, I thought it was clumsier than the double tap to zoom method which for me, so far, has been accurate nearly everytime I use it.

If somewhere down the line they add multitouch to the browser (as I imagine they will), it will be a nice bonus feature. But I'm not holding my breath for the update, nor am I even really missing the feature to be honest.
