The "Family Pack" is an UPGRADE package, but XP and Vista users are eligible to install the upgrade if they have 3 qualifying versions of XP and/or Vista. See the linked tinyurl thread for details above.

You do know right than when Windows 2000 came out computers typically had 64MB or 128MB of ram.

That doesn't break down by XP or Win2K, but I can tell you that in my company, there are still tons of boxes running Win2K, slowly being migrated to XP as the machines break down. But the question, as the article above points out, is whether the machine age is worth it.

I fear you will be waiting a long time. as I gather win 7 is subject to continuous updates and even had them to download on opening day. much better than vista and easier to manage. just a thought.

Every Windows OS released on the NT Kernel, including Vista nd 7, has had a service pack. Microsoft releases these service packs not only to address OS issues but as an update roll-up for Windows. Windows 7 will reach a point in time where it takes much longer to update than it would be to install. Windows XP and Vista have already reached a similar place in the update stream. Service packs are a part of maintenance for the Windows product. Microsoft is not doing this to be nice, but out of legal obligation and to keep themselves from getting sued.

There will be a service pack for Windows 7, don't worry.
