Blinking Caps Lock and Scroll Lock Buttons on Compaq Laptop

Over the weekend my laptop crashed while I was using it and a white screen appeared. I shut it down and now every time I turn it on the Caps and Scroll Lock lights keep blinking and the screen stays black. I have tried taking out the memory cards and battery and then reinstalling them and still the same results. I just got laid off so I don't really want to spend the money to get it fixed, I have a bunch of pictures that I have not backed up (stupid me). Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, im answering to very old post, but i really need help in this, my Compaq CQ56-116SO crashed with white screen, now Caps Lock just blinks and screen is just black, and hard reset doesn't work.. Help..

I have sended my laptop to HP, and they repair it for free because it has warranty left. So no problem anymore, im just waiting my laptop comes back. It was powerfullest PC in my house. ;D
