Buzz Out Loud Lounge forum: Should I buy PS3 or XBOX 360?

you send it back to microsoft within 3 years of buyingf it, manufacturing error.

I know its been awile sicne the last post, but I just wanted to know if any of us helped you out... What did you choose!!!???


PS3, beacuse of hardware and cool features? Or Xbox 360, because of their hot spot in games and online play?

The PS3 is the next step up. Essentially, the Xbox360 has peaked and is going to wind down. It will have the great games for a while, but, they are usually on both systems.
The next system gamers will want is the PS3. The system appears to be a little sharper, better graphics (from what I've seen), and just seems newer and more technologically advanced.
I haven't heard of PS4 or Xbox 720 coming out anytime soon, so PS3 will be next.
Just like after the Xbox 1 came out, it started replacing the PS2 because it had better technology, the Xbox 360 will be replaced by the PS2.
I'm not sure if Blue Ray is a big deal (its not for me), but its something. Also, it sounds like Sony isn't nickle and dime-ing you to death like Xbox360. If you are a casual gamer, you aren't going to want to spend money on top of the $50 per title to play online.

I can tell you from my experience of having both consoles. 360 online is so above that of the PS3. You simply get what you pay for. If you don't pay for online, you still get updates for you games, and you can make purchases etc. You just can't play games with other people.

PS3 experience online is frustrating. Yes it's free, but it's not as easy and simple as the 360. You can do it, but it's sony style. Very indirect, and confusing.

So if you just want to jump online and play a game, 360 is the way to go. But be warned you will have to pay for it.

Graphics wise the PS3 has better graphics. Without a doubt. But do you have a 1080i TV? or are you playing on a standard regular tv? If so graphics are irrelavant. I have a 720p resolution monitor. I notice a difference in some games but not others. Make sure the difference is worth the money of a HD monitor/tv.

Xbox has more games, but there are games that are console spacific for each. If you want halo and other such games. Xbox is the way to go. If you want Grand Turismo and other such games go with PS3.

If you have a Microsoft Media player pc you can make a TiVo out of your 360. It's quit easy if you have a tv tuner on your pc.

If you have sony camera's or other sony devices you can hook em up with your PS3.

Both have online markets, and shops. I bought my PS3 because I needed a blue ray player. If you don't have a blue ray player buy a PS3. The reason why, it an inexpensive blue ray player (compared to other quallity blue ray players) also because it connects to the internet. The blue ray player will update. As new version of blue ray become available. If you buy a stand alone blue ray you do not get driver updates. So the PS3 will play blue ray movies (the future of HD Movies) and you get a bonus of it playing Video Games.

If you want to be an online gamer, and play with friends go with the 360. I bought it because I thought they would win the HD war. I was wrong. When I researched Blue-ray players the PS3 is a no brainer.

Oh 360 has more games to offer as well. You can't really go wrong with either, game prices are the same. PS3 bonus of playing Blue-ray movies.

All of this is mute if you have a standard definition TV though. So think long term.

I've owned a 360 and currently own a PS3. Here is what I've gotten out of owning both.

If you are big into gaming, online gaming in particular, the 360 is the way to go hands down. XBox Live kills both the PS3 and the Wii for online play and the 360 consistently gets the best games.

If you want a general media player that has the ability to play games get the PS3. It's a great blu-ray player and handles alot of audio and video codecs. It's also very easy to replace the hard drive and is much cheaper than the 360. You're limited a bit with the games, but it's getting better. Online gaming kind of stinks but if you aren't into that then it's a non-issue.

I don't have the space to own both consoles and I really wanted blu-ray capabilities after blu-ray won so I went out and got a PS3. I was getting to a point where I wasn't playing games much so my 360 spent alot of time turned off.

Just as a nit pick the 360 is super loud compared to the PS3 40g. It actually was loud enough that I would give it a second thought if you put it in a small room. It will annoy the hell out of you.

PS3 is far more practical to buy...

u won't find friends to play online on Xbox....
PS3 will get u heaps of online options....
PS3 has wireless option for xbox u hav to spend 100 bucks... :s

PS3 is perfect option....

I recomend you buy Ps3,that will be better and for palying just depend on your need

Xbox 360: Xbox has HD DVD and it has very unique graphics, plus Xbox has very good online service (but you have too pay) (Just buy 1month or 3month 1year cost $59.99 plus tax) that's why I think Xbox 360 is the 1st best and it has the most games and then comes wii than ps3 .

For me it really WOULD NOT MATTER. I like the Xbox controller somewhat more because it seems to fit in you hands better than the Dualshock 3s. The motion control in the ps controllers is not used in many games. XBL is better compared to PSN but if you mus have blu-ray then get a ps3. But blu-ray has not "matured" like dvds and digital downloads are beginning to go up some, ie: Netflix, Vudu, Hulu, Roku, Apple Tv, etc. If you need multiplayer, go where all your buddies are at.
