Buzz Out Loud Lounge forum: Everybody loves Firefox but...

I don't own Outlook, and I don't use Outlook Express. Thunderbird is my only email program that I use. Any non-podcast RSS feeds are loaded in Thunderbird, as well. No regrets.

I'd be more avid about it if everyplace I worked didn't use Lotus or Exchange.

I also use GMail and tend to like the web interface there, so because of that and the above, there's not much reason for me to use Thunderbird. (Except to get my ISP mail or some of my alternate GMail accounts.)

Not to the extent of Outlook integration anyway, and that's the whole point of using Exchange + Outlook.

Virtually any IMAP client 'does' Exchange. Nothing but Outlook actually really works with it. Which is why Thunderbird has never got a look in for me - I use Exchange for work and home.

All of my email accounts are web based. I can also access my accounts from my Blackberry. I have totally quit using email clients.

I use thunderbird because it loads so fast. I mean seriously my load time from clicking the icon to when it starts retrieving my e-mails is about 1 second. I just timed it. And I'm not running some crazy dual or quad core system, just a P4 2.3 ghz. I use it to connect to my gmail account and do all of my mailing through it. I don't have a problem with the gmail interface, it's just a tiny bit slower than thunderbird.

Now don't get me wrong, thunderbird doesn't overwhelm me as a great product by any means, but if all you need is a simple e-mail client on your desktop it's great for that.

Outlook is busted for me anyways. And I think it's simpler than logging in to the Yahoo Mail every time. Plus it's not a MS product, so it won't report back to home.
