Buzz Out Loud Lounge forum: Apple is going down

I really don't think people will ditch their iPod and their media for a radio station that doesn't play music they want to listen to, but maybe that's just me.

Maybe HD radio will get people to listen to radio again, but I don't think it will kill the iPod.

I really think you're comparing apples and oranges here. The iPod represents a different market from radio offerings. When I listen to radio I want to hear news and music that is not on my iPod - new or otherwise. When I listen to my iPod I want to hear all of my favorite music without advertising or annoying hosts. Maybe this will get audiophiles to listen to radio, but I don't think the average person has a problem with the audio quality of FM radio right now. Why spend money on a new reciever and hope a local station broadcasts in HD? I don't know anything about recording live radio, that sounds hard. I don't believe that HD radio will kill Apple or even put a dent in their iPod sales.

..irritates me. Not only is it just based on your personal preference, but there is no indication that there is any real competition. HD Radio is a tiny blip on the radar where the iPod and iTunes combination dominates.

While you only buy a song after 5 listens, others find that $1 an impulse buy, others buy after hearing it once etc... so don't write a sensationalist post for the sake of grabbing attention. Perhaps it should've been; "Why I won't buy an iPod."

Right now you don't have to worry about those dollars cause you didn't earn them. At your age a basic calculater cost over $100. Gas Was 31.9 cents a gallon and few cars would not pin the speedometer at 120mph. You weren't allowed to fill your car with gas and three people came out to check your tires oil TF and wipe all your windows. I bought a transister radio for $99. Like I said, things change and they will in your lifetime too.

I'm even younger to you, I'm twelve, and this happened to me too. Many people didn't really *care* after a point about what I said becuase they thought my age made my opinions less valueable. I may not have your grammar, or vocabulary *yet,* but I still have an opinion and a fact.
I give them a warm and friendly Buzz Off, and then post a long and lengthy post with all my knowledge on the fact and give my opinion on it. If people didn't know I was this young, they would probably not hesitate to look at my opinions head on. I never asked to be treated like a kid, neither did I ask to be treated like an adult. All I want to be treated as is a member of this forum.

Your age (or lack of it) shouldn't be the criteria by which people judge your ideas.... they should stand on their own merit.

A lot of CNET profiles have very little information. To avoid all these issues one could just wipe the page clean, and remain; "cnetroolz" or something.

I would hate to have to do that because it's interesting to see who the people are what they do in the real world - just adds more depth to the person you know so well on the forums.

I was in no way trying to be condescending. Even though My youngest Son is your age. I am never condescending. I Am an old Father. I did not feel that what you had to say was bad or wrong or anything that would have led you to beleive otherwise. I was just being playfull. Sorry if you took it to heart. I didn't know you were so sensitive about your age. As for your language in the Mac forum. Lets not discuss that and leave it at that. With the way I want things to change, you would have more money in your pocket. That is my point.
