Does anyone still HAVE a tdma phone?

Actually I do :}
It's an old AT&T prepay I keep around as a spare. There are actually times my T-Mobile Razr won't find a signal where my old Analog/TDMA phone will. Especially in the more sparsely populated areas of northern New England. If Cingular offered a trade-in, I'd do it. But if they want me to pay full price for a new phone I may as well go with a CDMA carrier. Once again, a cellphone company chooses a draconian business model that betrays it's old evil Ma Bell roots.

That TDMA phones are still used in the US. Here in the UK we don't have any analogue phones. Simply becuase you can get a pay as you go motorola L6 (Like the SLVR L7 but a VGA camera) for 30! Thus, anyone who had an analogue phone changed years ago.

My family has Cingular, and we recently upgraded our phones for free minus the "activation" charge. It had been more than two years, which is how we qualified for new phones. They were only free online though, not in the store.

I think they sent a notice in the mail saying we qualified, but you may want to check online.

BTW, I upgraded from a Nokia 3595 to a Nokia 6102i.
