"SQL Server Admins" purpotrating

I work in tech support for a software company who provides a sql application for EMS billing. It is amazing the idiots passing themselves off as SQL administrators. Some don't know what it means to install SQL Server as Windows Authentication or mixed mode, or what an 'sa' user is or better yet, what the password is for it.
These guys make 40-60K a year and have next to no idea what they are doing. The sadder part is the organizations who hire them. I wish I could con my way into these jobs. Instead, I spend most of my day connecting through remote desktop apps and doing their work for them unbeknownced to their employer.
Is this the norm? Should I just call my self a SQL Admin in the job market and practically double my salary?
