Hello,
When I took out a hard drive out of an Xbox and put it in a PC, I couldn't see it. I later found out that the drive was by default locked and a PC couldn't access it.
Is there any way I could unlock it? Thanks.

Frankly I rarely see folk do more than recycle those old 10GB drives. Given you can get some USB memory stick for less money than the drive adapter why not put it back into the old XBox and use it?

I'm throwing away my old Xbox and I salvaged the hard drive. I plan to dedicate it for PC use. It's currently plugged in to my PC through IDE cables as a slave drive.
Then try DBAN and then it's blank. Ready for use.

I don't just need to wipe the drive clean, I have to totally reformat it from the FATX file system to the NTFS file system. Here are my circumstances:
1. The hard drive is locked. I need to unlock it.
2. My Xbox doesn't work, so I can't use it to help me.
3. I need to unlock and/or completely reformat it using only the computer.
4. I am setting up the hard drive for PC use.
Anything will help. Thank you.

Do you need help with what words to use on google? Here's what I used.

Remember that I don't duplicate prior or easy to find answers. I'll give you answers that differ from others because to reach this point, all the prior answers have failed you.
