Wii remote issues

I have had my Wii system for a few years and have 2 remotes (w/o motion plus) I use with it. For several months now I have had issues with my remotes operating - battery drainage (using a brand new rechargeable system), not seeing the "hand" on screen, won't turn off the system. Do these remotes go bad? Is it the system or the sensor bar? Don't know whether to go buy brand new remotes or what to do. Very frustrated cuz games are gathering dust instead of being played.

They do go bad

As with all electronics these controllers will go bad after a while and you started you've had them for a few years. It may be that they've just reached their life span. The censors and stuff in the controllers do eventually burn out I hear

Sorry for bumping an old post. Anybody with Wii remote problems with the "hand" not displaying on the screen, or the "hand" displaying upside down or not in the correct position, may find this useful. First, place new batteries in the Wii remote, this may fix your problem, if not fixed, take the Wii remote and bang against a hard surface. There is an Accelerometer sensor inside the Wii remote that may get stuck in a certain position, and banging the Wii remote on a hard surface will get the Accelerometer working again. If that don't fix your Wii remote then you may need a new one. Please do not get carried away when knocking your Wii remote against a hard surface, I take no responsibility what you may do to your equipment.
