720p plasma or 1080p lcd?

each tv is 500 and thats my limit right now and these are the tvs ive found around that range.

samsung 43" plasma 720

which one has more bang for the buck?
i know the contrast ratio on the lg isnt that good compared but i mainly play video games and watch movies through my xbox 360 via hdmi. I SEEN THE SAMSUNG IN STORES AND IT HAS AMAZING PICTURE. plz help

Having seen both my nod is to 1080p. The gaming is better but for movies and tv I might nod to plasma HOWEVER most folk don't use it exclusively for that so back to 1080p,

Always go for LCD

Based on my personal knowledge, especially for video game consoles, I think it's best if you buy an LCD (regardless of the brand) as experts say it provides more clarity and has less apparent "screen burn" than Plasmas. So yeah definitely go for the 1080p LCD, plus, LG is a good brand in and of itself.

For gaming I would go with the Samsung because of the Pixel response time of 0.001ms the LG has a Pixel response time 4ms which could cause lag.

The LG would be a good pick if you had a PS3 and wanted to use the Blueray player for watching DVD's

You do realize that below about 16ms, the potential for any ghosting is almost zero, and I would expect that in a double blind test, no one would ever be able to tell which display was the 0.001ms response rate vs the 4ms response rate. The human eye just doesn't have that level of sensitivity.

It would also be ghosting that you'd be worried about, not lag. Response rate has nothing at all to do with lag, unless you mean that one or two of the previous frames were still visible on the screen for a split second before being erased, and thus the erasure was lagging behind the animation... But that's typically called ghosting.
