Resolved question

GeForce GT 540M & Warcraft 3

by asimov231 - 5/17/11 12:15 AM

My laptop and games work generally nice, however I am always unsure which GeForce/NVIDIA settings to use for my GPU.

PROBLEM: Every time I play Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne; the game makes a short stop when I select units or buildings for the first time, also when texts appear on the game screen. I dont like this glitching.

Same for Total Annihilation, selecting factories or construction units or scrolling their build menu pages for the first time makes the game stop/glitch for a second. After the first glitch it is fine. However each time I run the game it stops on every menu for just a half second... very annoying.

How to fix this? I am sure it is about my GeForce..

my Acer Aspire 5750G laptop is running;
Windows 7 English 64bit
Intel Core i5-2410M
NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M
8Gb DDR3 1033MHz
15.6" HD LED LCD

Games in question:
Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne (latest B.net patch)
Total Annihilation 3.1

I'm running latest NVIDIA drivers for my GeForce.

These are my Global Settings:

Ambient Occlusion = Off
Anisotropic filtering = Application-controlled
Antialiasing - Gamma correction = Off
Antialiasing - Mode = Application-controlled
Antialiasing - Setting = Application-controlled
Antialiasing - Transparency = Off
CUDA - GPUs = All
Maximum pre-rendered frames = 3
Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration = Multiple display performance mode
Power Management Mode = Adaptive
Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization = Off
Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias = Allow
Texture filtering - Quality = Quality
Texture filtering - Trilinear Optimization = On
Threaded optimization = Auto
Triple Buffering = Off
Vertical sync = use the 3D application setting

Thanks for the help in advance!
