Problem Disabling Xbox LIVE Automatic Renewal

by Yangorang - 2/5/11 11:40 PM

So here is my story with trying to disable automatic-renewal on my account:

I saw a deal one day on one of the Xbox panels and decided to jump on it so I could play with my friends for a while; I am currently on a break from college (on an internship assignment) so I have a bit of time for games on the side. I don't want automatic renewal enabled, however, because I'm not sure if I'll have time in the future to keep playing and I don't want to be charged automatically for whatever the rate is for 12-months.

So I went about calling Xbox LIVE support to get it disabled right away. After being transferred once and remaining on hold for over half an hour, I was finally able to talk with someone that could process my request. He tried quite hard to convince me to keep it on by telling me how I would miss out on various deals and how I wouldn't forget about the renewal date since it would email me anyway, (it was like talking with one of those annoying credit card support people) but in the end he said he would process my request.

It has been a couple of weeks since I called though....and yet Automatic Renewal still shows as "On" from my Xbox.com account information. So my question is just wtf is with Xbox LIVE support? Did they just simply ignore me completely? If so what can I do about it?
