If the iPod touch is 802.11b then the network takes a speed hit.
Simple fixes include setting the router not to work with 802.l1b devices to adding a second router as a WAP supporting 802.11b only.

Thanks Bob, for the input - The router is from Verizon, there are 3 computers one laptop and 2 pc's that I thought I was going to have problems if I changed it to G only because they are older, but we did not experience any slow downs.
I am running the router on G mode only, and everything connects.
It is only when the iPod is turn on that the problem appears.
Based on the above, is it your opinion that even though i have the router on G mode ONLY, that it's dropping down to support B Mode?
Any other comments would be very appreciated.

It may take awhile to do that so I no longer write long explainations why mixing in 802.11b causes such a speed hit. But I did add a note about using a second router as a WAP to the Cnet Networking Forum sticky at http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7589_102-0.html?messageID=2754854&tag=forums06;posts#2754854
This is cheap and neatly expands a network in a way that fixes this issue.
