So, i get it - price might not be an issue...but, i'm a little concerned about quality. i've owned a PS3 since fall of '07. for the second time in as many years the thing has become a $500 paper weight. The drive just stopped playing/loading disks. First time it happened, thank God, the thing was (barely) still under warranty. They "fixed" it...then, 3 weeks ago, the same thing. Now they want me to pay $150 bucks (minimum) to have the thing serviced - for the same problem it was in the shop for not quite a year ago? And from what I can gather, this is NOT an isolated incident - many other PS3's exhibiting the same issue. Way to back your product, Sony.

So, now I'm left with a conundrum: go with the new, cheaper,more powerful slim and chance getting a shoddy product again? or go with the xbox? any suggestions? anyone? anyone? bueller?

Main thing is to get a good product which also has a good life.
I like xbox 360.
It has a good overlook & very powerful as compared to other consoles.

I would go with the Xbox. Being an owner of an elite i am overall pleased with its performance. It has only had to be serviced once in two and a half years and when it broke down they told me to send it to them and about a month later they sent me a new one. ( I was a little unhappy about how much time it took to get back to me) Besides the length of the Xbox being gone Microsoft left a good impression on me. My Xbox Live account is the same thing as my username, so if you decide to get an Xbox with live send me a friend request.

the ps3 is a great system and so is the xbox 360. if you care a lot about online play and don't mind paying, want the best picture quality and halo/gears of war then go with the xbox

if you want a system that you don't wanna pay for online, looking for an internet browser, and also want to be able to watch blu-ray then go with the ps3.

It depends on what you want in a machine. Each one does have it's pros and cons. Shame there isn't a console that combines the best of both. If it's main function will be entertainment like movies then the ps3 is best. If it's for playing online(even though it costs $$$) then the xbox 360 is the one. I have both since my son didn't want the ps3 anymore. He never played games after about a month so it sat collecting a lot of dust. Now I clean it off about once a month to watch a movie.

PS3 will keep selling long after 360 is dead and gone. M$ is all about money and doesn't care about quality gaming experience. Once they are done with the 360 they'll do the same thing as the original, shut down the servers, stop servicing/producing the system and FORCE you to upgrade to the new expensive system.

PS3 has blu ray, better exclusvies, better controler, free online play and will be around for a long time to come. Heck they still sell 1.3 million PS2's every quarter! PS2 has sold more than 150 million systems! PS3 will get there, it's only 3.1 million away from 360 and the 360 had a 1 year head start.

Sony has not been the best either, they stop supporting ps2 games on the newest models & stopped people running Linex. Sony online gaming is not very good but should get better once they start charging.

Both Sony & MS are about the $$$. & if you do not know Sony is going to be soon charging for online gaming, I think $45 a year... coming this Fall.
