ps3 wifi

i think im going to get a ps3 for christmas. i haven't seen this anywhere, but what types of wifi does the ps3 support? at my college campus we use the enterprise system, which i know doesn't work with my ipod because it doesn't support that kind. does the ps3 support all types of wireless or just some?

u don't need to translate i understand. ill just run a Ethernet cord directly to the unit, and maybe buy something that i can use to run a ethernet to my computer as well.

It seems kind of overkill given the PS3 natively supports wifi, but you could get a wireless bridge. Basically it's a device that connects to any ethernet port and turns it into a wireless device. You then usually use an internal web server on the device to configure it.

So if you really needed WPA2 or something it's an option. Can't imagine why the PS3 doesn't already support WPA2, but almost nothing Sony has done with the PS3 makes a lot of sense, so we'll probably never know.

i thought the same thing about my new ipod touch. you would think that i would be able to use that on campus, but no because they use the stupid wpa-2 enterprise, i can only use my ipod touch's internet when i go home.

With WPA2 Enterprise there is little that can be done. Even connecting via a hard line may issue a (login) challenge to use the network.

It's time to ask around how people are connecting up Xbox's, Wii's and such.

really hope that this will work otherwise this will just give me one more reason to hate the schools interent. i guess ill have to check with people how are connected with xbox's or wiis. hopefully they can get online with theirs

WPA-Enterprise

I'm having the same problem at my uni.
Runs on WPA2-Enterprise

Wired connection wont work, wireless connection wont work, and I can't find anything to fix it.
But these posts are in 2007 - so if you guys now know how to fix it, please let me know.

WPA-Enterprise is used so there is control over what and who connects. If you have trouble connecting you take it up with those that control this network.
