The wife and I started a new home business selling crafts and homemade soaps at trade shows. The interest is genuinely good so far. We are thinking about expanding to an eCommerce, but don't know which one to pick. What are some of the better ones out there for starters with a small budget?

Volusion isn't too bad, you can get started with about 100 or so products for $19.99 a month for an ecommerce site. That doesn't include the costs of taking credit cards via the web.

WooCommerce & Paypal

Congrats on the progress you've made so far!

I would advise using WooCommerce (free for your needs), and just opening up a PayPal merchant account. The only money you would need to get this going is domain name ($9.95) and hosting ($120/yr). PayPal will take about 2.5% of your transaction...but it's a small price to pay considering how low your overhead is for everything else. You can set it all up on Wordpress site with the WooCommerce plugin, and within the plugin there is a link to your PayPal account!

Tried Prestashop?

We started our online business about 2 years ago. I knew nothing about eCommerce software back then. I was recommended to try a free webshop platform called 'prestashop'. It was free and very easy to install. We installed it on our 1 and 1 web server and it runs like a dream. The great thing is that we are not limited to the number of products we have and also the site is very easy to configure.

I've used osCommerce and it has alot of community support depending on your needs. There are alot of free eCommerce solutions out there. Here's a short list:

We have been using AmeriCommerce, and the customer service has been wonderful. They answer questions very promptly and are very helpful towards admins that do not have any experience with coding or setting up websites.

Feel free to give their free trial a try!
