Small business forum: Network Hard Drive

Network Hard Drive

We have a small business and have 2 locations that we do business at. Both networks are never working at the same time because the same people are either at one location or the other. There are 2 computers on the network at both locations. We presently have an external drive connected to one of the computers that we take with us to the other location because we use a lot of common files between one another.

What I would like to know is, if I purchase a "network/ethernet" hard drive will I be able to transport it from one location to the other without any network compatibility issues? We use McAfee for our security software.

Thanks for your prompt response.

Do you know anything about iDrive on-line backup service? We use it and they say that they have a problem with "mapped" drives. Do you know if we have a "network hard drive" would it still be considered a "mapped" network drive?

Frankly some cloud solution looks to be helpful here. I needed some files synced and accessible as I went on travel. I settled on DropBox.

I don't write what it is or much else but it did solve a very similar problem.
