Small business forum: How do you put a business on their own network.

Find where it is open and close it. Their IT staff does this or you rent/hire IT to get it closed up.

We'll have to know about the network and where the open spots are.

For example if there are unsecured Ethernet outlets in the guest areas you put lock boxes on them. And if there is unsecured wifi you add WPA2 passwords.

That's just the beginning steps.

If the business opted for WEP or less secure wifi, that will not help.

We've opted for less ethernet and more wifi. But we change the passwords often and do not use less than WPA2.

Best solution was already suggested above. Hire a IT pro to consult and go from there. If your new to the It world which it appears so. Higher a pro, your company info is floating around in outer space for people to see and steal. Some may disagree as well but I recommend wired over wireless almost every time. Wired cost a little more but I'll pay the extra knowing my info is secure. I hear the arguments about how secure wireless is but who you trying to fool. Wireless is secure to a small a degree. Hard wired requires a little more brute force to break into. However, wireless is good/best in certain situations.

business should be there on their network because if any detail of the business if any one want can be easily fetch by them with in no time.
