Small business forum: I want to create a business website.

1. Register a domain.

2. Find a provider to host your site (can be combined with #1).

3. Make a business plan and a marketing plan. Have it reviewed by a competent advisor. You should know how to make money and how to reach your potential 'members'/'clients' before spending much money. Could very well be #1 also.

4a. Hire a webdesigner (or a company).
4b. Learn to implement a website yourself (alternative to 3b). The essence: server side programming in php, asp, .Net and/or java. Some database (MySQL?) might be necessary.
4c. Choose a ready made (free or paid) web application (like this forum using Jive software) and implement it (alternative to 3a and 3b).

5. Work hard and make it a success.

Before you go too far in your site planning, consider your competition or whether or not there is a demand for your website at all. It sounds like you have already begun this process. You just need to give your analyses more structure, in my opinion.

I would suggest doing a Porter's 5 Forces Analysis.

There are ads on this example but the do not generate income they are little more then attractive links to the companies shown and the freeware they provide. No money is made from them.

Since you are yet a student, I think you can start small. Do some research about the virtual world especially in business. In the virtual world, the market can be broad and you can reach people anywhere in the world. Plan your business specifically and communicate it in your website very clearly.

You can also start by creating a blog where all you need is to put your content.

You can hire someone to do it for fairly cheap these days using a site like mymuto.com. People bid to do the design and implementation of the site.

Who need this ? There is always people who want to take all of the money you have to promote your website.Almost all of the website promotion firms are just fake,and they don't make any work for the people who paid them.

The most important ingredient to success online is my ATTITUDE. It does take some time to learn the process and get the skills in this business - many people lose interest after a short time. Why? • Hosting account (like ‘Hostgator’, is 8.99$/month or there is a way to have safe free hosting, see link below);

• Auto responder (like ‘Aweber’ 1$/first month, then $19/month);

• You need to have your own idea/service/product that you’re passionate about. It should be a valuable, solution-oriented product or service that people are looking for - if you don’t have your own, affiliate marketing is the way to go;

• A step-by-step guide with an instructor, who will show the way;

It is very important in web business to have rich content on the website, or to offer a valuable gift for free.

As for me, to make my own website with my own hands was such a joy.

After you have made your website this way, the next most important thing is traffic or visitors. There are many ways to promote a website:

- Submit your site to website directories;

- Submit articles in your niche field to article directories;

- Sign up with Facebook, Twitter and many other and social media networks;

As you can see, to make my own website involves some work to do, but it isn’t as hard as it seems! You just have to have clear understanding of how web business works with this step-by-step guide which I found most useful.

then, choose the right open source script for free or hire a code guy to code for you~~
