I seem to be having a problem recently with my computer, where 4 random programs will start using 25% of the CPU maxing it out.
These can be different programs every time, but usually two of them are Explorer.exe and Chrome.exe ... The rest just depends on what I have open at the time, it has been IDM.exe, Zune.exe, utorrent.exe, backup & storage.exe.
It will just randomly choose 4 open programs and make them all use 25% which then uses 100% of the CPU. Even when I've turned some of the other programs off, others will still use 25% (I.E. if uTorrent, IDM and Chrome we're each using 25% and I closed them, Explorer.exe would still use 25% even though nothing else is running until I end process on that and then start it running again)
Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

2.8GHz Quad Core

uTorrent in this mix.
This changes everything that we would normally consider and suggest. We know that torrents are used, more often than not, for downloading and sharing copyrighted and pirated files and forum policy does not permit us to discuss that, but that leaves your system open to attack from virus or malware ridden files. The fact that explorer.exe pops up as using so much cpu usage is often a sign that the system is infected. Chrome might be in use if it is your default browser for downloading more malicious content without you knowing it.
Your bets bet is to ditch uTorrnet and all the files it has downloaded, scan your system with your anti-virus then again with the free versions of Malwarebytes Anti-malware and SUPERAntiSpyware.
But until you move on from using P2P and torrent sites you will find little other help in these forums.
