You dont say whether the memory card was still plugged into the camera or to a card reader in the computer.

If you have a card reader installed in the computer try a program called 'isobuster' (cant recall the address for it so you'll have to google it). It may pick up the memory card and is usually pretty good at recovering 'lost' or 'damaged' data on removable media such as cds/dvds. Hope it helps.

A friend of mine formated its SD card by error and I was able to recover its picture with Active UNDELETE Pro (www.active-undelete.com)

This may be more than you need if the card is not corrupted however, I has an SD card give me a read error when trying to transfer my photos to the computer. I tried several different card readers and many programs (freeware and ones where you pay after recovery) without success. I searched for new recovery programs on the web every couple months. None worked with this SD card. Finally, I found "Photo Rescue". It worked perfectly and I was able to recover ALL of our family vacation pictures. Best of all you can use a trial version to see if it can "see" you pictures then only pay if it works.
