Recorded audio cds will not play in all cd players

I recently recorded several cds through Music Match for a friend .They were recorded in mp3 format. I was told that none of them play on her 5 disc player. The recorded discs play on any of my players. I don't know the name of her player. My discs were not closed. If I had recorded these in a wav format and closed each one would they then work in her player?
