i-mac not colorsyncing with printers

by Whoinu - 11/15/09 7:07 PM

Hello all,

I am really stuck... If anybody can help me, it will be really great!

I was helping somebody to print out some photographs. He has the second newest imac and Adobe CS4, Epson R2880 printer.

He told me everytime when he prints, the prints come out much darker than the image on screen. So, I calibrated his monitor, found proper icc profiles for his papers, did all the printing settings in Photoshop as I usually do with my i-mac and epson 3880 printer, and printed and it still comes out too dark.

We tried printing a few files using 2 different printers and they both produces same kind of dark prints. So, I do not think it is because of the printer. I tried printing from Lightroom, iphoto and Photoshop and they all produces same kind of dark prints. I tried some different papers with right icc profile for each one and they still comes out too dark. It's not because of the printer, it's not because of the software, it's not because of the paper, so the only thing I could think of was there might be something wrong with the computer.

And when I was checking the computer, I found out that there are 4 different library folders in the system as well as 4 different profile folders in each of it. Is this normal?? I put icc profiles in the first one that came up and it shows up in the profile selections in Photoshop. But I was thinking the computer is confused because there are so many profile folders. He said he did not create that many profile folders and it has been like that since he bought it. If this is the cause, does anybody know how to fix this??

I also tried Colorsync Utility and there were 54 files that showed up saying it cannot be repaired. Could this be the cause?? Or is there anything else causing this??

I use these equipments a lot myself, and though I was gonna solve his problem, but I really couldn't figure out what's wrong.

If anybody knows anything, please help us!!!

Thank you very much in advance!!
