A simple question about passing Trojan Horse viruses via FTP

by mikdaviswr - 11/10/09 9:53 AM

Say I make a file, a simple music file in Adobe Audition and use a secure FTP connection to pass it from my computer to another. Can a Trojan Horse on my computer attach to this file and cause a danger to those who download it? Or is it a matter of the TH knowing that when that port (21) is opened - it can then attach itself to outgoing (any outgoing file for that matter) and spread to other computers? Thank you.

It depends if there's something...

that is in your network or your ISPs network. If FTP is password protected, it does not mean that no injection on any file can happen. Always have a scanner in FTP/hosts/server and computers to make sure there's nothing that will spread or infect others.
