DO NOT BUY!!!

by Kellistad - 9/9/09 3:28 PM

To anyone reading this post I make a simple statement. DO NOT BUY FROM PCPROGRESS.COM!!! I repeat DO NOT BUY FROM PCPROGRESS.COM And here is why:

On July 31, 2009 I made a purchase of an Intel Pentium E6600 Dual Core processor. At the time of purchase their website stated that they had 6 In Stock. As of today I have not received it and have since canceled my order. I contacted PC Progress 3 times, all of which were by phone.

The first of which was on August 13th (a Thursday) where I was told that they were receiving the processors in the following day (Friday) and I should receive it by the following Friday, August 21st. I was asked if I wanted to cancel my order and I declined because I purchased it at a reasonable price. I could wait another week for it to come. It never did. I should also mention that their website stated that they had 11 IN STOCK.

My second phone call was on August 20th. Were I was told that their order of that particular processor was still waiting in US Customs and that it should be in within the next 2 days. Obviously frustrated at this point they agreed to increase my shipping to an expedited 3 day shipping status. That was after I declined a second request to cancel my order. I changed my 'ship to' address because I was going on vacation and had it shipped to my work address. I also changed my email contact information because I was told that I would receive an email once the processor was being shipped. I never got an email. Their website also stated that they had 10 IN STOCK.

My third phone call was today, September 9th. I was told a 3rd story as to why they didn't have the processor. They apparently received the wrong shipment of processors and were out of stock. But for some reason their website stated that they had 10 IN STOCK. Their website also states the following:
"The quantity in stock is available to ship today if order is placed by 3PM Central Time Monday-Friday (Excluding Holidays). If ordered on Saturday, Sunday, or Holiday the order will ship the next business day. Please phone in order if the item needs to be delivered on Saturday. The "IN STOCK" inventory updates every hour, so there is a slight chance that inventory has changed by the time your order has been submitted."
After having read that I would have assumed when I made my purchase, on a Friday morning, with no Holiday in site, with 6 IN STOCK, I should have received my processor within the 5-10 business days that I selected for the shipping. I was told that they would be receiving the processors in either today or tomorrow. No one could guarantee this of course and I was asked again, this time by the customer service supervisor, if I wanted to cancel my order.

This distributor is a CNET certified store which is why I am making my post here. I would suggest that CNET look into this matter. Being the reputable company that CNET is I would think that they would expect more from their "Certified" Stores. The fact that I was basically told the same thing 3 times is ridiculous. The False Advertising that they have on their website should be looked into as well. As I write this they still show 10 IN STOCK. The Customer Service Supervisor couldn't even tell me how often the website updates. They also don't have a rule set for informing customers if their is an issue with their order being processed. I am truly disheartened by this experience. PC Progress has a lot of products at very reasonable prices. Being a computer enthusiast and ordering computer parts on a regular basis I was looking forward to doing business with PC PROGRESS and also telling many of my friends about them. I guess it was too good to be true and as the saying goes... "You do get what you paid for". If you go cheap expect poor quality and, apparently, service.

That last post was about a week ago. Have you recieved the unit yet. If not have you cancelled it?

I tried looking for that CPU on Tiger. They don't sell it any longer. They have the E7500 for a dozen ten dollar bills

Present Status

I canceled my order when I made the 3rd phone call. I received a full refund for the order.

I have checked around and there really aren't many places that sell that processor. The best Core 2 - Duo that my motherboard can handle is an E6700, which is probably what I'll go with. I might have better luck finding that one. Going to a Quad Core isn't within my budget at the moment.

It's nice that you get your money back in full. Their business ethics really sucks according to what you said. CNET should definitely take a look at this company.

Several alibis with no delivery of goods.
Thanks again for the tip.

No problem

I think it was hearing the same thing over and over again that really put me off. And then hearing from the Customer Service Supervisor if I wanted to cancel my order just told me that Customer Satisfaction wasn't something they really cared about.

I hope that CNET looks into this company. I'm sure, just by the way they were acting, that this isn't the first time something like this has happened. They sounded to... comfortable with it.

sounded to comfortable?

It means that they always do the same thing over and over again to their customers that's double "sucks". =)

Not overreacting, but moderators could relay this fast to CNET personnel. There are several of you guys roaming around here. Maybe you should give this a second "hard" look.

It's not a good feeling being duped and taken advantage off.

Why the heck is that happening?

Why the heck is that happening? Are there honest people left in this world? Why do they post lies in their website and put more stocks when they dont have the item in stock anymore?
Be honest.....YOU PEOPLE!

This things will not leave our country.... as long as there are people who don't complain some people would take advantage. It's good that forums like this is at work.
