What do you think of this car kit from Motorola? I like that it sounds like MOTO Rocker...:-p Allows you to take hands free calls and you can even play your own music on it. Not to mention its compact and portable; no wires all over the place.

I don't like the fact that it leaves something else out for a thief to see and want to steal. At least with a head unit, I can take the face plate out, and most thieves won't take a box they can do nothing with.
I also don't like FM transmitters. The normally don't work well. If you can, go with some type of wired solution, or the above.

A bluetooth headset would be a ideal for you then, since you can take it with you. Have you seen the Bluetooth H710 Headset from Motorola? It has enchanced noise and echo reduction. Love to new color scheme too. Is that something you'd prefer?

As for the headset itself, I don't like the idea of using a headset in a car. I would think that it would reduce the amount you could hear. Like if an ambulance is coming up behind you or something. /don't know

I was talking about one like that. For like 50 dollars extra, you get, improved sound quality, the ability to play Mp3 and WMA CDs, Sirius Satellite Radio (with the adapter), a clean install, a wireless remote, the ability to take and receive calls hands free, and the ability to stream music over A2DP (bluetooth protocol for stereo music).
I personally don't like things hanging off of my visor. I'm just a teensy bit OCD when it comes to my vehicles. LOL Whenever I see something like that, it just reminds me of a band-aid. Something that is used in the short term, all the while you are hoping you can get rid of it and go to something better. Just my opinion.
Can you tell what my next upgrade is going to be? XD

Do you like the fit of the over the head headsets over the H710 headset that just fits snugly over just one ear? If it's just over one ear, I don't see a problem with hearing incoming sounds like an ambulance. Also, the T505 does allow you to play music in your car, it links your music to your car stereo and allows you to take hands-free calls. It's a compact size too, so you can clip it on the visor easily. It's great that we have so many options when it comes to taking hands-free calls.

I also posted a review on it if yo want to see it. I prefer the over the head headsets and earbud headsets because they both offer stereo sound. I have a Nokia N75, and it has A2DP (the music streaming bluetooth profile) and AVRCP (the ability to control my phone from my headset). Any bluetooth accessory for my phone I buy will have to have both of these available to me, as well as the ability to output stereo sound.
I think I mistakenly said earlier that A2DP was the stereo profile. After doing more research on the matter, I discovered this. I have quoted it directly from Wikipedia.
"This profile defines how high quality audio (stereo or mono) can be streamed from one device to another over a Bluetooth connection.[1] For example, music streamed from a mobile phone to a wireless headset."
The T505 you posted a link to only outputs in mono sound. And as I have said earlier, it connects to the car's stereo using an FM transmitter. I planned on using this to connect to my car, but a) with it being a cell phone, it gives off radiation that interferes with the FM transmission, and gives you that galloping sound you hear when you put your phone too close to the television.

If I were to use a connection to my car stereo to achieve handsfree status, I would use something like this, but once you do that, you are once again getting into new head unit price territory, so I would still go that route.

Very true. But for me, I just want entirely too much for me to be happy with an addition like this. It all comes back to what you want out of your setup. If all you want is the ability to talk handsfree, and play a little music, then this is a viable option for you. For me who wants stereo sound, the ability to see who is calling me, and without any interference, I need something a little more robust.
