Before I buy a new Treo 700P from Verizon, I would like to know if anyone knows of a way to make it work hands free through my BMW 650. I know it will work with the bluetooth headset, but it would be great if I could listen and speak through the car itself. HELP??
Once you pair the two devices (your car and the phone) your car will find the phone's address book. You should be able to then see all of the entries via your car's center console display. You can also speak the phone number and have your car instruct the phone to dial it.
Hint: while most people will say the phone number like: 5 ... 5 ... 5 ... 1 ... 2 ... 3 ... 4
with the car speaking back each number, one ... at ... a ... time.
Don't do that! (it is tedious)
Just say the phone number, rapidly and clearly, like ''5551234'', and the car will then repeat what you said. Even if you say part of the number (like 555) the car will allow you to add more numbers, right after it repeats what you have said so far.
When you finally get the full number in, then just say ''dial'' and it does.
I am unable to connect my new Treo 700p to my BMW530xi. When I get to the screen " Show Nearby Devices", my phone does not recognize the BMW bluetooth. Any advice?
I have had the BMW 650 for about 3 weeks now and had the 700p for 2 weeks. Since I got the 700p I have had tons of problems mainly my phone endlessly resetting itself when the bluetooth connection is established. Sometimes after resetting a couple of times, it works OK. However, once I leave the car, the phone resets and I need to manually turn it back on. I was hoping for the bluetooth to bring in my whole phonebook instead of just my speed dials and instead, I can barely use it in the car...anyone try anything that has worked or found a software patch for the car or phone?
For more specific information you really ought to search through, and perhaps even post to, any of the various BMW massage boards. I did a quick search, and read a lot of messages where people have sucessfully paired their bluetooth phones to their BMWs.
Here are a couple, and they were easy to Google and find:

bigbadmi did not report having a problem. His message was titled "BMW 650 /Treo 700P compatibility" That was the message you replied to.
If, instead, you meant to reply to jakemrosen's message of "My connection is terrible" then you should be on that message, actually being able to read it at that time, and then click on the [Reply] button there.
Doing that makes sure that your replies follow the thread properly.
well you can have it installed in the shop itself, i had mine installed in the shop itself and it worked well with the bmw e30 m3.
