I am not sure if this is the proper thread to post this on but I was wondering if there is a way to access my home pc from my work pc via the internet. they are both on broadband connections. if there is a way can you let me know how so I may access my files while at work??
VPN - Short for virtual private network, a network that is constructed by using public wires to connect nodes. For example, there are a number of systems that enable you to create networks using the Internet as the medium for transporting data. These systems use encryption and other security mechanisms to ensure that only authorized users can access the network and that the data cannot be intercepted.

PC Anywhere is another option
Go to: gotomypc.com. There is a cost, but it is fast and easy.
You may also want to try VNC - Virtual Network Computing. It is free and works great.

It's a more security oriented version of VNC and still free.

I installed tightVNC,on 2 PCs,but cannot get them to talk, I need an IDIOTS GUIDE to VNC!!
RAdmin (short for Remote Administrator).

You can run multiple remote PCs from anywhere, just as if you were sitting right in front of them. Also does file transfer to and from the remote PCs.
Other products such as PC Anywhere are better known, but this product is superior, albeit less known by others that will advise you.
I run several PCs on a LAN (my Multimedia PC, a server, a file storage/backup system, manage my wife's Laptop, and of course my main system) through a single monitor. This is all done without turning on file sharing or otherwise compromising my systems security. Of course, I also run my work computer from home as well.
When my friends need help, I have them download and install the RAdmin server (no setup required – just install and start it) so I can easily run their system and help them resolve problems or simply show them how-to.
