You have a year to upgarde your warranty, its doing GREAT, i haven't been giving it no rest LOL. Yes it comes with a Manual, and i have NEVER looked at it, a 2 year old could hook up this computer, I hooked up my power cable, then my keyboard, then my mouse, then my speakers (not included) and after that, went through all the windows XP stuff, like filling out my user name and putting in my product key # for windows which you can find on the inside of your door on your PC, then downloaded my internet service and then downloaded my PC-Cillin 2005 internet Security and my final thing was i registered my windows XP. My computer came with my motherboards manual, window XP CD , pentium 4 manual, system restore CD which will cost you 20 $ drivers & updates CD, power DVD CD already (installed) and I copy DVD's 2 software (not already installed) plus my manual to my graphic card plus (battlefield 1942)if you upgrade to a 6600 plus the box ( on request) and my invoice, plus a paper stating start here and explains going through windows XP setup.
I love my new machine also...i've been giving it no rest, playing WoW at high settings while listening to music in iTunes, and keeping random internet explorer and instant messenger windows open...doesn't miss a beat. Could be a little quieter, but I knew what I was getting into and it's no louder than any other custom-built machine. The thing I loved most is how they gave us the most updates software, drivers, and security updates - Instead of the PC being ghosted with old software and security updates then sitting on a shelf for months, they put all the latest greatest on it so there won't be any security problems...heck, if I purchased anti-virus with it they would of installed the latest definitions, too...that way you can plug it in and ride with no worrying.
Terrysalmi:
You mention that your new computer isn't very quiet; can you be more specific? Do the fans hum like a hair dryer on low speed? An option Velocity Micro does offer when configuring a new computer is the choice of upgrading to "quieter" fans.
If noise is a problem; should I consider upgrading to the "quieter" fans or just go with the standard dual fans which come with the 500 watt power supply which I'm considering getting? Which case design and color did you go with?

difference, but if you think this is loud try a CYBERpower, or IbuyPower system.
My previous machine was a HP Pavilion 7955...about three years old. The way the OEM's design there machines are to be very quiet - using smaller fans and 'ducting' systems to direct air directly from the processor to the outside of the case. Unfortunately, this doesn't do much for cooling the rest of the case - such as a powerful graphics card, and the noise reduction also means using lower quality fans, power supplies, etc.
The Velocity Micro is loud, compared to a Dell, but otherwise normal. This is because it uses higher quality parts. It's audible, how loud is hard to say exactly....music covers it up just fine.
I got the blue SX-V case and the 500w power supply. If you like whisper-quiet PCs, the more expensive fans might help, but aren't necessary. My computer sits on my desk, if you keep it on the floor or away from your desk it probably won't be much of a problem.
Terrysalmi:
I do a lot of work during the night on my PC which is very quiet. I had to have a new power supply installed in my six year old PC last month when the original one finally went out but I still have another problem; so the guy at the computer shop told me which is this:
A second fan inside my case which is there to cool my PC's processor so I was told is about to go out. I told the repair guy to go ahead and replace that too; he told me he couldn't; the part was no longer available. He said it was just a matter of time before that fan finally goes out.
He asked me if my PC locks up a lot; I told him it did; he said the reason why was because my processor was getting too hot; the fan wasn't keeping it cool. Does what this guy said make any sense?
If and when that other fan finally does go out will I know it and if so; how? Will my PC case begin to smell like my power supply did when it finally went out? The new power supply set me back about $80.00; $59.95 for the part + installation which in my opinion wasn't too bad to have the work done so quickly on a weekend. My old PS went out on Friday; a new one was installed on Saturday.
Now what I have to figure out next is how to get all of my data from my old hard drive which the guy at the shop told me was a 4.0GB HD; not a 40GB HD to my new HD in whatever new PC I decide to buy.
He did tell be he could "mirror" my old HD either into or onto my new HD if I agreed to let him custom build a new PC for me. I don't think I'm going to go that route just yet but I have been told to consider at least a 80GB to a 120GB HD in whatever new PC I do decide to buy. Is that a good size to consider for a non-gamer?

Sounds like to me, you need to look at Dell, Gateway, HP or etc. You can fill your needs much cheaper going with one of those companys, iam not Terry, but hearing your comments, i would get a fast pentium 4 3.0 ghz and up, or a Amd 3400 + and atleast 120 GB hard drive with atleast 512 ddr memory, My cuz bought a Dell refurbuished with a 3.0 GHZ P4, 160 GB hard drive and 512 ddr memory, with windows XP also came with McAfee 2005 virus scan and he loves it and you have the same warranty options for a little over 600$ Click on view inventory= Dimension 4600

Rather than go with a Velocity Micro Vector SX-V should I consider purchasing something like an Emachine 5026T instead for my basic "non-gaming" needs?

Finally decieded on the SX-V Based on the cnet review and user reviews, plus research on Velocity Micro's website vs. other comprable brands. I like fact that they use all retail parts as opposed to OEM, and the detailed description of the assembly & testing right on their website was very nice.
My specs:
-500 watt power supply w/ 2 fans
-512MB PC3200 DDR 400 memory
-P-4 3.0GHZ LGA775 socket

-120GB western digital 7200rpm HardDrive

Nice configuration you have there. Are Velocity Micro desktop PC's considered to be better than desktop PC's offered by Monarch Computers? Can anyone tell me what's the purpose of having a computer case with a window on it? Is that just a gimmick or what?
I managed to survive Hurricane Katrina; was forced to evacuate to a town near Houston, Texas where I lived for almost a month but I can definitely say that I'm certainly glad to be back home in Biloxi, Mississippi.
