I was wondering if anybody could offer me some advice, I want to buy a HDD based MP3 player and was considering either the Samsung YH920 or the Creative Zen Touch. Which of these is in your opinion the best?? I have read some things about the music transfer on the Samsung not being very good... Is this true.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Richard
First check other HDD-Mp3 such Apple iPode products & iRiver H120, H140, H320, H340.
I see all their feauters and I suggest you that select iRiver Product that have best permormance & some good accessories such as ext mic & have some good features such as optical in/out & line in/out.
But In my country IRAN , I can't buy iRiver. because their products don't exist here.
Do you have any suggestion for me?

hi
i have purchased one of the samsung hdd mp3 players you mention,i would like to take this moment to make your life easy.DO NOT BUY THE SAMSUNG.you are right about the file transfer being not good.i can tell you its terrible
beyond belief steer clear.you will end up pulling your hair out trying to get your music onto it in the proper way its a nightmare.the only plus side is the actual player is nice and compact nicer than the zen.hope this helps
many thanks for your comments presario, I do like the look of the samsung but this file transfer thing is really putting me off, I have read some very good reviews on the Zen touch, sound quality etc so I am leaning towards this one.

This really is a great player, don't let snooty
ipod users fool you. They overpaid! This player is such
a better value for the the money. It is so easy to use
and much easier to navigate than using an ipod touch
wheel. I am not long for words so I will just say this
player is excellent and sets the bar for MP3 players to
come.
Now the downside, the software sucks. Here is the
solution and if you follow this you will save yourself
a lot of time. Find an Mp3 tag editor on the net, I
used the freeware program called Mp3tag. Edit your ID3
tags for your mp3's, then build a library using the
napster software and transfer to your player. The
napster software is completely useless except for
transferring files securly. If you use windows media
player you ID3 tags get all screwed up when
transferring. Enjoy and I am glad to see such a great
Samsung product.
I BOUGHT THIS MP3 PLAYER , AND AFTER 5 HOURS OF CHARGING IT ,THIS BLOODY THIN REFUSES TO BE SWITCHED ON.CAN SOMEBODY OUT THERE HELP ME.WHEN I AM CHARGING IT , SHOULD AN INDICATION BE ON THE SCREEN LIKE ON THE MOBILE PHONES ?BECAUSE WHILE I AM CHARGING IT I DON'T SEE ANY SIGNS ON THE SCREEN.PLEASE HELP MEEEE
sounds like you didn't connect it to the charger correctly...
first, it has to be plugged into the mains as it does not charge through the usb connector.
second, when it is correctly connected to the charger, the screen comes on and displays a message that it is charging and then announces when the charge is complete... the screen stays active until it is disconnected from the charger
time to call samsung tech support.

I had this exact same problem wen I initially got mine, I sent it back and got it replaced, its a fault u should have warrenty on it, u need a replacement.
People, the samsung napster is really quite nice and napster is really useful, if you take the 5 minutes necissary to learn how to use it. Music transfers quickly and flawlessly. I transferred 2 gbs if lossless wmas in less than 5 minutes.
I have had the Samsung YH-920 since Nov 19 2004 and have used Napster to download about 300 songs flawlessly. Sounds like you may have had bandwidth or PC issues unrelated to the player or software.

I got a YH920 today and I am sending it back. It is supposed to work on Windows XP with Service pack 2 etc but it does not. I spoke to samsung customer support and there is an issue with Microsoft and the compatibility of this player. I would suggest that you look at MP3 players which have the Plays For Sure Log that Microsoft are promoting. This way they will always have it compatible with future upgrades
Hope this helps

for the samsung yh-920 to work with the service pack 2, you have to download a usb file thing for it to work with SP2 if your running windows xp. I forgot where to download it but when i get it ill post it here..
My yh-920 has given me fits. For a few days it was recognized by the PC as "Samsung YH-920 device" and I could read and write to it. Now it is recognized only as an "Unknown device" and therefore I can't load any more music on it. I tried everything including reinstalling the drivers, software, Samsung tech support and buying and installing a new USB 2.0 card.
It still comes up as Unknown device. Can you tell me what usb file you used to get it going? Thank you very much !!
Mine did exactly the same thing. I tried connecting to several computers with the same results. I was hopeing somebody would reply to this with an solution, I was ready to send it back on warranty.
From what I know about USB, I guessed the YH-920 was not identifying itself correctly in the USB inquiry. I thought perhaps the memory or disk was corrupt. I know some devices like my linksys router does a master reset to factory settings when the reset is held for 30 seconds. As a last desparate attempt I tried holding the reset for thirty seconds and then both the reset and 'On/Play' button for thirty seconds.
It seemed to work. When I plugged it in USB it came back on line and all my content was still on the hard disk. I can not find any Samsung docs to support this.
Perhaps it was just a lucky coincidence but it worked for me.
Good Luck
Brad
