i know many mp3 players can record with built in mics, but, which mp3 players let you record by pluging straight into the mp3 player
the only one that i know of that does this is the iriver H300 series are there any more?
iRiver 899 has a port for that
The iRiver 700 series also has this feature.
the U2 has a direct line-in that works very well. I'd say the quality is similar but a little lower than what I can get from my PC soundcard though. The U2 comes with a line in cable which is nice; now I leave it plugged into my PC.
One important caveat about teh iRiver line-in recording is that one cannot upload the recorded files to a computer or other device after encoding these files. This IMO is a major limitation of teh iRiver's recording feature. I almost bought one for digitizing my old out-of-print LPs conveniently until I found out that once you finish the recording, it's stuck on the player for good. I have a collection much of which never made it to CD, and would really like to digitize it without going through the trouble of hooking up my turntable to a regular PC.
