doing clean install of windows xp

I want to do a clean install of Windows XP but I only have the system restoration disc that ship with my computer will this work when ask for the disk of previous version

A clean install of XP is usually very easy to do.
But I don't understand your problem.

he means he got one of those "user friendly" built computers, and who ever sold the computer thought that OS disk is not needed.

grannyb, i think your screwed. the system restoration disk doesnt even have XP in there. its just a disk you pop in if you delete some important file that screwes up your computer. though you can get illegal copy of XP everywhere. thats alwasy an option

And ask for either a restore CD set or the operating system CD. You will also need a product key number in order to reinstall the operating system. Do you have that? If not, download, install and run Belarc and print out a copy. It will have the product key numbers for the software installed on your computer.
