Change user access from user account in XP?

by tubaguy63 - 1/6/05 7:12 PM

Is there any way to change user access in XP from the user account?

My son and I got into a fight and he changed my access on the computer and changed the administrator password.

I now have extremely limited access on every computer in the house and he won't change it.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry to hear about your problem.

I'm not sure what help can be given. Although I am sure that there are "ways and means" to get around this, the underlying problem is your relationship between yourself and your son.

I am hesitant to get involved in personal matters, and I bet others will feel the same way.

Sorry.

A Solution

I had a similiar problem.... I was the Team Lead with a Small Business type company... which had a WorkGroup (not domain) of around 8 computers.... a rogue employee/subordinate once removed my backup admin account from his (work) pc.. and also changed the administrator password.... after that he didnt show up for work for a few days..... I created a bootable linux CD which could change the Windows Admin Password on the hard drive, to get around the issue....

Check out this page: It has links and instructions on creating bootable password-reset CDs....

http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm

Its pretty easy - provided you know how to burn CDs from ISOs.. and it works

But the more important issue here is you need to resolve the issue with your son amicably. Good luck with that

Thanks

suspect this post.

tubaguy63 has made a similar post in the Computer Help Forum.

http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6122-0.html?forumID=44&threadID=55367&messageID=659791

Only in that forum he was seeking help to change his User access privaleges for a computer at work without the Administrator's knowledge.

A coincidence, perhaps?

I don't think so. I was suspicious when he said his son changed the password. If he is trying to change settings on a work computer, he had better be caureful. Where I work, that's grounds to be fired.

I agree,

but he is now trying to change settings on 2 computers. The one(s) at home, and his work's computer.

I am still suspicious.
