Lines and poor picture on my display. Monitor or Card?

by Jadefa - 12/21/04 7:33 PM

I have a Dell Dimension 4100 w/ 19" Dell trinitron monitor & NVIDIA GeForce 2 64mb video card. All of the sudden (instantly) the picture on my display faded & lines appeared. When I pull up the display settings on the monitor the menu is perfect (clear & bright). My device manager says that the video card is operating properly. Is there any way of narrowing it down to one component?

Probably video ram

The quickest test is to move monitor to another system and check results. It appears as a video ram problem, either on the deicated video ram or system ram which many times is used for expanding video capabilities, beyond a certain point. -OR- is you hadn't already use the latest video drivers and check results. You should alsdo reseat the video cable several times as well, plus verify no bent/broken pins.

good luck -----Willy
