Hello
I currently own a P4 3.06GHz with 1GB RAM and an Nvidia 6800GT 256 (AGP8x) video card. It is a GREAT system for games and the 3D work I do.
I have a buddy at Intel who can get me an Intel P4 500 with HT and an Intel motherboard D915PBL (it's a nice one) along with a full version of Win XP pro for $200. I'm DEFINITELY going to make the purchase.
But. . .
The new motherboard is PCI-express. No AGP. So I cannot move my new $450 video card across to it. I'm trying to figure out what my options are, because I need to pay for the new system with the old one. I think I can sell my old system for about $1000.
Does anyone know if there are any video cards which are equivalent to mine, but that use PCI-express and are of similar cost?
Thanks,
-----------S
My buddy can get me an Intel P4 550, not a 500. I mistyped.
dont quote me but im sure theres a 6800GT PCI express model as well as a AGP one. dont want to put you off but theres not really any point going to PCI-E just yet nothing uses the extra bandwith that it offers i mean the AGPx8 cards dont even use the full bandwith available.
o and theres a 6200 card available for PCI-E too although its not as good as the 6800.
video cards come in PCI-E as well as AGP. Just check on tigerdirect.com
