Blocking Download .exe files

by Lynch68 - 12/19/04 10:01 AM

Is there a way to block users from downloading program files or blocking installing program files with XP? Ex. teenager shares computer and downloads Kazaa / AIM / when told not to.

Change their account to a LIMITED user.

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/usercpl_overview.mspx writes:

"Limited account

The limited account is intended for someone who should be prohibited from changing most computer settings and deleting important files. A user with a limited account:

Cannot install software or hardware, but can access programs that have already been installed on the computer.

Can change his or her account picture and can also create, change, or delete his or her password.

Cannot change his or her account name or account type. A user with a computer administrator account must make these kinds of changes. "

Since they are behaving irresponsibly and putting your machine at risk (Kazaa = bad!), then they get the clamps put on.

Not much will work, and not much will be allowed!
